Greene County United Way’s (GCUW) 17th Annual Stuff the Bus donation collection has begun. Starting in July, 18 local businesses have set out collection bins to support this community event.
Stuff the Bus is a United Way program that invests in our community by providing children from K-12, whose families are financially struggling, backpacks filled with school supplies for the upcoming year. In 2018, GCUW donated almost 600 backpacks throughout the five school districts as well as to the local Head Start and Intermediate Unit programs.
On August 14, Stuff the Bus will be at the Waynesburg Lion’s Club Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sponsored by First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Greene County, the day will be filled with activities, free lunch for the kids (provided by the Summer Free Lunch program), free books, face painting, games and more!
This year, Cornerstone Care’s Mobile Dental Unit will offer exams and the Greene County Historical Society will show off amazing artifacts found right here in our community.
Registration runs from July 1 – August 7 by calling 2-1-1 (direct dial 1-888-553-5778).
Donations for this event are being collected at Baily’s Insurance, Blueprints, Eva K. Bowlby Library, Bridge Street Commons, Big Lots, Cornerstone Care, Community Bank, EQT Rec Center, First Baptist Church (Waynesburg), First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Greene County, Flenniken Library, Greene ARC, Greene County PA Chamber of Commerce, High Street Hair, SPHS Care Center, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Carmichaels), Waynesburg University and GCUW.
