Freshman Faryn Dewitt made history Sunday when she posted the first win for the Waynesburg University women’s wrestling program in its first competition at East Stroudsburg University Women’s Open..

The Southmoreland graduate received a bye into the round of 16 at 110 pounds. Dewitt lost to Sacred Heart’s Lauren Nguyen in the first round. She rebounded with the program’s first win, a 9-6 decision over Cedar Crest’s Leilani Martinez.

Dewitt lost her next bout to finish 1-2 in her opening tournament.
