Victories by Waynesburg and Colonial 3 Thursday tightened up the middle of the Fayette County American Legion Baseball League standings.
Waynesburg rallied to win at Carmichaels, 5-4, while Colonial 3 shut out Farmington, 4-0.
Farmington slips into fourth place with a 6-4 record, a ½-game behind Smithfield-Fairchance (7-4).
Colonial 3 (4-7) remains slightly ahead of Waynesburg (3-9) for the sixth and final playoff spot. Carmichaels slides to 0-14.
Colonial 3's Zack Kutek tossed a four-hitter to preserve the shutout against Farmington.
Waynesburg and Carmichaels both scored a run in the first inning, but Waynesburg pulled ahead with three runs in the top of the third inning.
Carmichaels rallied back to tie the game with single runs in the bottom of the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Waynesburg put across the winning run in the top of the sixth inning.
Ross Jones pitched the final three innings to earn the win. He struck out four. Kyle Shriver struck out three in the first four innings. The two combined on a five-hitter.
Tyler Rush led Waynesburg with three hits. Kylar Amos and Jesse Johnson both had a pair of hits in the win. Shriver, Logan Higgins and Chase Malanosky all drove in a run.
