Rachel Rohanna felt a 5-under round was possible on the last day of the Symetra Tour’s Island Resort Championship and that’s just what the Waynesburg Central graduate shot in Sunday’s final round.
Rohanna finished tied for 14th with a three-round total of 7-under 209 after firing the 5-under 67 in the final round. That showing earned her $3,175 and bumped her up to No. 30 on the Symetra money list.
She was 25th after both the first and second rounds before moving up the leaderboard during her final 18 holes.
“Good,” Rohanna said of her play on Sunday. “Still, I missed a couple of short putts today to really go low, but can’t complain with 5-under.”
Rohanna had three birdies on the front and two on the back, and the second bogey-free round of the Symetra Tour tournament in Michigan.
“I’ve had a ton of pars these last four tournaments,” said Rohanna.
Rohanna hit 10-of-14 fairways and all 18 greens in regulation, but needed 32 putts to close out the round.
“I played just solid. I couldn’t have hit it any better,” said Rohanna, adding with a laugh, “We had a decent gallery today and I heard people saying, ‘If she could just make a putt.’ So, that tells you how well I was striking it.”
Rohanna hopes to continue her string of solid play this week when the Symetra Tour heads to Cincinnati for the Prasco Charity Championship, which begins Friday. She then plans to play a couple LPGA Tour events.
