Rachel Rohanna picked right up where she left off last week by posting a 3-under 69 Friday in the opening round of the Prasco Charity Championship.
The Waynesburg Central graduate is tied for fifth place heading into Saturday's second round. Patty Tavatanakit holds the first-round lead at 8-under 64.
"I played great today and made some really good putts," Rohanna said of her round.
Rohanna opened on No. 1 and quickly moved to 1-under with a birdie on No. 2. She gave the stroke back, plus another, with a double bogey on No. 4.
Rohanna closed with two birdies on the final four holes of the front to go out in 1-under 35.
She pulled to 4-under for the tournament with three birdies through seven holes on the back, but lost a stroke with a bogey-5 on No. 17. She finished the back in 2-under 34.
Rohanna hit 9-of-14 fairways and 15-of-18 greens in regulation, and needed 29 putts. The Ohio State graduate has her former coach Therese Hession on her bag.
"I was definitely hitting in the right spots, plus my coach has been around this course a dozen times, so she had good local knowledge! She read of a lot of putts for me today and it helped me confirm my lines and roll confident putts," said Rohanna.
