According to the Mayo Clinic, there are several symptoms of a peanut allergy including:

n Runny nose

n Skin reaction (swelling, hives, redness)

n Digestive problems (diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting)

n Tightening of the throat, shortness of breath, wheezing

Those with a more severe form of the allergy can have a life-threatening reaction called anaphylaxis. These symptoms include:

n Congestion of airways

n Swelling of the throat that makes it difficult to breathe

n Severe drop in blood pressure (shock)

n Rapid pulse

n Dizziness, lightheadedness or loss of consciousness
