Theft from vehicle

Connellsville police charged William A. Shaw, 31, and Brooke N. Hall, 32, both of Connellsville following an investigation into thefts from unlocked vehicles on the south side of the city July 16. Witnesses provided a description and police viewed surveillance footage. The next day, Shaw and Hall were seen wearing the same clothes and carrying some of the stolen items, police said.

DUI

State police charged John R. Holliday II, 43, of Confluence with DUI following a traffic stop July 16.

Theft reported

State police said someone stole money from a cash register at Rocky Mountain Kayaks on Arona Road and burglarized the business sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 8:45 a.m. Saturday.

Man charged

State police said they were called to Britney Lane at about 7 a.m. July 11 for a report of two suspicious males carrying backpacks and loitering around the railroad tracks. They both fled toward Coolspring Jumonville Road, police said. They were both detained and Trey Darnell, 21, of Dunbar was found with a stolen gun, police said. He is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, loitering and prowling at nighttime, conspiracy to commit burglary, receiving stolen property, firearms not to be carried without a license and resisting arrest.

Counterfeit bill

State police said someone tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill at United Bank on Walnut Hill Road at about 10 a.m. Friday and fled the scene.
