Chase Frameli came up short of claiming a PIAA wrestling medal but that doesn’t diminish the outstanding career he had at Jefferson-Morgan.
Frameli finished his senior season with a 39-8 record after earning third-place medals in the WPIAL and PIAA regional tournaments and going 2-2 in the 122-pound division at last weekend’s PIAA Class AA championships.
Frameli went 0-2 in the state tournament as a sophomore. He also qualified last year as a junior but a knee injury suffered in the regional prevented him from competing.
Frameli opened his senior state appearance by dropping a 5-2 decision to Canton’s Hudson Ward.
Frameli came back in the consolation bracket with two wins before being knocked out of medal contention.
He pinned Leighton’s Jacob Ferguson in 2:28 and then edged Palisades’s Danny Houbert in a 5-4 decision before losing by fall to Notre Dame Green Pond’s Dominic Sumpolec in 4:01.
Frameli started his high school career with an 11-1 record as a freshman.
He followed that up with a 33-7 mark as a sophomore and a 33-11 record as a junior that included a section championship.
Frameli, who won gold at the TriCADA tournament in early January, wraps up his career with a 116-27 record.
