Martin J. Dunay
Martin J. Dunay, 80, of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, March 28, 2002. He was born March 6, 1922, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of George Dunay and Susan Baran Dunay.
Mr. Dunay was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown.
He was a United States Army Veteran who served during World War II as a Tank Commander in the 786th Tank Battalion.
He was a Coal Miner for United States Steel Corporation and a member of United Mine Workers of America District 2.
Four sisters, Catherine Dunay, Evelyn Dunay, Pauline Faris, Susan Dunay, two brothers, Joseph Dunay and George Dunay, and his parents preceded him in death.
He was a kind, gentle, strong, and extremely generous man who was committed to his Family and Friends!
He loved farming and gardening and grew outstanding tomatoes and strawberries.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years whom he married in 1948, Henrietta Kozlowski Dunay; a daughter, Regina C. Dunay of Orlando, Florida; six sisters and brothers: Anna Dunay, Helen Yanick, and Paul Dunay all of Uniontown, Pa., Agnes Dunay and Elizabeth Style both of Baltimore, Maryland, and Albert Dunay of Bloomingdale, New Jersey; also many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 139 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, April 2, until 9 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, with Rev. Fr. Alexander L. Pleban as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Church Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa., where Military honors will be accorded by General George c. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.
