Alice W. Brooks Chearney, 70, of Acme, Pa., died Monday, April 1, 2002, at the home of her daughter in Scottdale, Pa. She is survived by her husband, Homer E. Chearney; children: Joseph Chearney, Sheila Joan Suhan, Patricia S. Nicholson, and Elaine Kunkle; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters.

Friends will be received at the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, Pa., today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 4, until 1 p.m.

Miriam A. Thompson Huffine, 87, of Taylors, South Carolina, and formerly of Dawson, Pa., died Sunday, March 31, 2002, in Allen Bennett Hospital, Greer, South Carolina.

She is survived by sons and daughter: Eugene Huffine of Travelers, South Carolina, Gerald Huffine of Taylors, South Carolina, and Arlene Burd of Punxsutawney, Pa.; 23 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Thompson Strickler of Arnold City, Pa.

Friends will be received at Ralph E. Galley Funeral Home, Dawson, Pa., today, April 3, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
