Leonard C. Smith, 73, of Smock, Pa., died at 2:55 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2002, in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa. He was born November 4, 1928, in Standard Shaft, Fayette County, Pa., a son of John Smith and Victoria Stemkovich Smith.

Mr. Smith served with the United States Army in Korea and was a member of V. F. W. Post 4584 in Masontown, Pa.

He was employed by United States Steel Corporation at Bridgeport and the Robena Mine prior to 1968.

From 1968 until 1983 he was employed by Carmichaels Mining Machine Repair.

His wife, Bernice Yuras Smith, died July 13, 1983.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Charles Smith, who died in infancy, two brothers, Robert Smith and Richard Smith, three sisters, Frances Vilk, Dorothy Stermock and Valeria Smith, and his parents.

Surviving are two brothers: William Smith of Stow, Ohio, and Thomas Smith of Masontown, Pa.; two sisters: Gloria Katarsky of Carmichaels, Pa., and Patricia Crevda of Willowick, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held Saturday, April 6, at 10 a.m. The Rev. John M. Bauer will officiate.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by V. F. W. Post 4584 and American Legion Post 423.
