Organizer stolen
Nathan Rich Montgomery, 38, of West Jordan, Utah, told state police at Waynesburg that his hand-held, Palm Pilot organizer was taken from the Comfort Inn between 1:30 p.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Man cited
John Jordan, 23, of Carmichaels was cited for possessing an open alcoholic container while operating a motor vehicle on Route 21 at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, state police said.

Man charged
Brenan Darryl Horn, 18, of Washington was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on Route 21 at 1:34 a.m. Monday, state police at Waynesburg said.
He was charged at the office of District Justice Neil M. Canan and released to his parents, police said. Horn was a passenger in a vehicle driven by an unidentified juvenile, who was issued a traffic citation and released to his parents, police said.

Burglary reported
Terry Allen Ross of Nemacolin told state police that a PlayStation 2 and five games were taken from his Grant Street home between 4:30 and 7 p.m. Sunday.

Vandalism probed
Two postal vehicles, the front of the Carmichaels post office and the front of Czyzewski Chiropractic were damaged by paint from a paintball gun at the intersection of North Market and East Greene streets between 9 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, state police said.

A 16-year-old Marianna boy was cited for retail theft after he tried to steal a hair product from Giant Eagle on Sugar Run Road at 9:30 p.m. Monday, state police at Waynesburg said.

Woman charged
Rebecca Lynn Collins, 36, of Lemley Mobile Home Park, Waynesburg, was arrested for driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Route 188 at 12:08 a.m. Sunday, state police said.
Collins’ blood-alcohol level was.138 percent. Charges were filed in the office of District Justice Neil Canan.

A two-inch waste pump owned by Valley Directional Drilling of Shade Gap was taken from the berm of Route 166 between 8 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, state police said.

Saundra Chidester of Uniontown told state police that someone broke into her Redstone Furnace Road home and stole a clothesbasket and small cedar chest between March 26 and Monday, state police said.

Fraud reported
State police said a white girl in her late teens with a thin build and short, blond hair duped a clerk at BFS on Route 119 out of $10 Tuesday.
Police said the girl asked for cash in exchange for a roll of quarters. The clerk gave the girl $10 and later discovered that the roll contained two copper end caps filled with pennies rolled in tissue and quarters at the end of the roll.

Teen struck
State police said a 15-year-old Dunbar boy allegedly struck a 15-year-old Connellsville boy on the head during a fight at Divito Park at 8:35 p.m. Tuesday. The victim was treated at Highlands Hospital.

State police at Waynesburg are investigating the theft of $82.16 from Dry Tavern Service at the intersection of routes 88 and 188 between 3:30 and 8:45 p.m. March 27.

Edward M. Lenhoff III, 45, of Second Street, Mather, was cited for disorderly conduct for allegedly playing his stereo too loudly at 4:35 a.m. Monday, state police said.

Jason Rolls of Clarksville told state police that the windows on his Walnut Street storage shed were damaged between 4 p.m. March 28 and 10:30 a.m. March 29.

Reports released
State police at Waynesburg issued their report for the first quarter of 2002, noting that Greene County has experienced a slight increase in burglaries at construction sites. Compared to the first quarter of last year, burglary rates have remained constant, but thefts have dropped by 42 percent. The Waynesburg station also investigated 23 percent fewer accidents in the first quarter of 2002.
The station also released the statistical report for March.
Police reported 123 criminal offenses, all of which were founded, and 85 of them were cleared. Officers made 76 criminal arrests and investigated two reports of stolen property, including motor vehicles theft, for a total value of $36,558. The total value of recovered property, including three motor vehicles, was $2,900.
Officers made two underage drinking arrests and 18 DUI arrests and investigated two DUI accidents.
In patrol activity, police responded to 45 accidents, including six hit-and-run accidents, three fatalities and 14 with injuries. Officers issued 290 citations and 296 warnings.
Officers responded to 47 motorist assists and 333 other incidents, for a total number of 548 incidents.

Kim Geyer of Vance Street told city police at 11 a.m. Thursday that her blue and white Ford F-250 pickup truck was taken. Police said the truck, which had the keys in it, has the license plate number YFF0358.

William Yanecko of 43 Mifflin St. was cited for public drunkenness after he allegedly was found lying on a Connellsville Street sidewalk at 10:16 p.m. Wednesday, city police said.

Thomas Beal, 35, of Ossining, N.Y., was charged with simple assault Wednesday for allegedly striking an unidentified woman March 10 at the intersection of Downer Avenue and Pittsburgh Street, city police said.

Two cited
Christopher McManus, 25, of Smock and Dennis Ray Keefer, 25, of Star Junction were charged with harassment Thursday for related incidents that occurred Feb. 24 at the Highland House on West Main Street, city police said.
According to police, at 1:53 a.m., McManus allegedly assaulted Jason Kendall, and when off-duty state police trooper David Bell attempted to pull McManus off Kendall, Keefer punched Bell. Police said Bell suffered facial and head injuries.

Jared Birch, 25, of Princeton, Ind., told state police that someone driving a black or dark blue Ford Escort sideswiped his tractor-trailer and fled the scene along Route 51 at 9:09 a.m. Thursday.

State police said a vehicle stolen Monday or Tuesday from the driveway of Thomas Rhome Sr. of Dilliner was found soon afterward in Point Marion.

Man charged
State police at Waynesburg said Brian Wayne Smith, 23, of Philadelphia was cited after he allegedly struck Bernard Alfred Benamati, 23, of Mather and Anthony Robert Stockdale, 26, of Clarksville in the head during a fight in the Koratich’s Golden Rail parking lot around 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

Charges pending
State police at Waynesburg said resisting arrest charges are pending against a 28-year-old Carmichaels man after he fled police and a Greene County adult probation officer when they tried to arrest him at his residence at 10 p.m. March 28. A struggle ensued, and the two officers and the man’s live-in girlfriend suffered minor injuries, police said.

Cheryl Ann Dye of Uniontown told state police that someone stole eight compact discs from her vehicle outside a Dixon Boulevard residence between 2 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Woman harassed
A female employee at Sears in the Uniontown Mall told state police that a 30- to 40-year-old black man sexually harassed her while she processed his sale at 3:45 p.m. Monday. She told police that the man, wearing a pink shirt and yellow hooded sweatshirt, struck her with a paint stick after she refused to give him her phone number.

State police said Justin Andrew Marva of Lemont Furnace was charged with aggravated assault, hindering apprehension, simple assault and disorderly conduct after he allegedly rushed state trooper Gregory Furin from behind while he assisted in an arrest at 8:45 a.m. Monday.

Jackie Halfhill Jr. and Ernie Starsick, both of Uniontown, told state police that someone removed items from their vehicles along Thomas Drive and Dixon Boulevard between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Halfhill reported a Sony CD player and three screwdrivers stolen, while Starsick said two cellular phones were taken.

Borough police issued their activity report for March, during which they received 164 requests for police services, made 17 arrests and issued 14 traffic citations. Police investigated 16 disturbances, 14 acts of criminal mischief, seven acts of harassment, four accidents, two death reports, two attempted burglaries, two child custody disputes, one drug violation, one sexual assault and one animal complaint.
