Stella Jordan Smalsky
Stella J. Tolka Jordan Smalsky, 84, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 12:55 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2002, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. She was born October 8, 1917, in Farmington, West Virginia, a daughter of John Tolka and Edith Konchesky Tolka.
Mrs. Smalsky resided in Stringtown, Carmichaels, since October 1946 and was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels.
She was a Founding Member of St. Hugh Altar Rosary Society, a longtime member of the Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club, and a member of Greene County Court of the Catholic Daughters of America for many years.
Her first husband, William “Tex” Jordan, died June 9, 1943.
On October 27, 1946, she married Michael G. Smalsky. He died August 15, 1986.
Also deceased are a brother, Louis Tolka, and her parents.
Her strength and deep faith will be sadly missed by her children!
Surviving are a son, Stanley M. Jordan and his wife, Helen, of Carmichaels, Pa.; three daughters: Carole Sue Oliverio, wife of Dr. Anthony Oliverio, of Uniontown, Pa., Donna A. Rothman of Upper St. Clair, Pa., and Patricia Lynn Novak, wife of Richard Novak, of Hickory, Pa.; 10 grandchildren: Thomas Jordan, Joanne Murray, Carolyn Whoolery, Susan Faieta, Richard Novak, Cynthia Spencer, Denise Kimberling, Louis Oliverio, Matthew Oliverio, and Sarah Rothman; nine great grandchildren; a dear sister, Sophie Ponek of Westover, West Virginia; a dear friend and sister-in-law, Helen Smalsky of Carmichaels; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 9, (time will be announced).
Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park.
