Task force nabs suspected crack dealer
CONNELLSVILLE – A Youngwood man was arrested for selling crack cocaine in the city, following a joint undercover police investigation. Connellsville Police charged Jodie Shane Howell, 28, of 502 Depot St., with four counts each of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver and three counts of delivery of a controlled substance stemming from the week-long investigation.
According to the affidavit filed with District Justice Robert Breakiron, Howell was allegedly observed at 9:13 p.m., March 8 by Connellsville police and members of the Fayette County Drug Task Force selling .87 grams of crack cocaine for $100 to an individual in an East Crawford Avenue parking lot.
Less than two hours later, police allegedly watched him sell 1.8 grams of cocaine to a second person at the same location for $200.
The following night, Howell allegedly sold 2.9 grams of crack cocaine to an undercover police officer for $300.
On March 15, police took Howell into custody for parole violations.
His vehicle was impounded and inventoried at the Connellsville Police Department where 42 individually wrapped rocks of suspected crack cocaine were found under the front passenger seat. Police estimate the street value at $2,000.
According to the affidavit, Howell admitted to selling drugs and that the cocaine found in his car did belong to him.
Howell was arraigned before Breakiron and returned to Greensburg SCI on a $25,000 bond. He faces an April 9 preliminary hearing.
