James J. “Beano” Trainor, 82, of Yauger Hollow, Lemont Furnace, Pa., passed away Sunday morning, April 7, 2002, after a long illness at home with his Family at his side. He was born December 2, 1919, in Uniontown, Pa., son of the late John E. and Susan Fetsko Trainor.

Mr. Trainor was a Veteran of World War II who served with the United States Marine Corps 4th Division where he fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima along with 40,000 other Troops and was awarded the “Ruptured Duck” Medal.

He was retired from United States Steel, Homestead Works, retiring in July of 1981. He enjoyed being with his loving family, gardening, hunting and anything outdoors.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three sisters and a brother, Violet Klingo, Eleanor, Margaret and Lawrence Trainor.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Mae Festog Trainor. They had celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on September 20th. Three Children: Edward M. Trainor and wife Debra of South Bridge, Massachusetts, Linda Mae Neverdale and husband Paul D. of Yauger Hollow, Carol E. VanSickle and husband Andy of Uniontown, Pa.; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Six sisters and a brother, Mary Lasky, John Trainor, Dorothy Nicholson all of Uniontown, Jo Ann McCall of Baltimore, Maryland, Martha Bungard of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Catherine Orbin of Connellsville.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, April 10, until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with Rev. Roger Yeager officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.

AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood will accord Military Services at graveside.
