Structure fire

Firefighters from Dunbar, Hopwood, Uniontown, West Leisenring, South Union Township and North Union Township were called to a reported kitchen fire on Coolspring Street at 4:16 p.m. Sunday, according to the Fayette County 911 Center.

Uniontown EMS also responded.

Harassment

Brad L. Rushton, 25, of Dawson was charged with harassment for an incident that occurred on Jackson Hill Road at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, state police at Belle Vernon said.

Rushton was driving on the road and allegedly swerved his vehicle toward a 13-year-old Dawson girl in an attempt to scare her into thinking he was going to hit her, police said.

Four-vehicle accident

One person was injured in a four-vehicle accident on Route 30 in Hempfield Township at 10 a.m. Friday, state police at Greensburg said.

Vehicles driven by Junior Coneway of Markleysburg, Kimberly Salatino of Greensburg, Clifford Earley of Latrobe and Joseph Samay of Lower Burrel were involved in the accident. A passenger in Samay’s vehicle, Anita Samay, was injured, police said.

Retail theft

State police at Belle Vernon are investigating an incident in which a Brownsville man allegedly did not pay for two 40-ounce containers of beer at Georgio’s Subs and Pizza on High Street in Brownsville at 11 p.m. Saturday.

A Playstation and Nintendo 64 were taken from a mobile home across the street from the Collier Fire Hall between 6 and 10:20 p.m. Friday, state police said.

The owner is Loretta Delorenzo of Uniontown.

Man cited

Jason Cain Nicklow Sr., 26, of Lake Lynn was cited for harassment for an incident that occurred along Hope Hollow Road at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, state police said.

Nicklow allegedly hit Rebecca J. McClain, 29, of Lake Lynn in the face.

Assaults alleged

State police are investigating an incident in which two people were involved in a fight on East Crawford Avenue at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

A 26-year-old Connellsville man and a 22-year-old Dunbar woman allegedly hit each other.

South Union Twp.

Recovered vehicle

A 1994 Ford F250 was found in a field 50 yards north of Duck Hollow Road at 10 p.m. Friday, state police said.

The owner is Brenda Dirda of Fairbank.

Vehicle burned

State police are investigating an incident in which someone took a Chevrolet Malibu to a location on Shepherd Road and burned it at 4 a.m. Saturday.

Burglary

Cutting torches were taken from a mobile home on Ramcat Road after it was forcibly entered between 8 a.m. March 23 and 4 p.m. Sunday, state police said.

The owner is Richard Metheney, 35, of Meyersdale.

Todd Weston of Millview Street reported to city police at 1:31 a.m. Monday that someone attempted to pry open the rear door to his apartment.

Two vehicles parked at Mundel’s on Morgantown Street were damaged with keys sometime during the day Sunday, city police said.

The owners are Heather Christopher and Charles Matthew.

Assault alleged

City police are investigating an incident in which a man was allegedly assaulted by four males at a location on West Main Street at 9 p.m. Sunday.

David Corob, 26, of Uniontown told police he was hit in the head with a bottle and then kicked and hit by four males. Corob suffered injures to his jaw, thumb and ear but refused treatment, police said.

Woman cited twice

Nancy Ferguson, 34, of Lenox Street was cited for public drunkenness twice within a 30-minute period Sunday evening, city police said.

Ferguson was cited the first time after she was discovered yelling outside her home. She was released to her mother at Lemon Wood Acres but found walking up the street a short time later. The second time she was cited and then arraigned before District Justice Rick Vernon and placed in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of bond.

Threats alleged

City police are investigating an incident in which Mary E. Taylor of Uniontown reported that someone known to her threatened her.

Taylor said the woman called and harassed her and the woman allegedly took a knife to Taylor’s place of employment at Uniontown Hospital and threatened her with it.

Larry A. Jadyk of Lenox Street reported to city police at 12:37 p.m. Sunday that a tire on his vehicle was slashed.

Criminal mischief

Shawn Brown, 20, of Pershing Court was cited for criminal mischief for an incident that occurred last month, city police said.

On March 18, police allege that Brown damaged two handicapped parking signs and siding on a building at Pershing Court.

Lawn ornaments damaged

Omeda Deeds of Lenox Street reported to city police that six large lawn ornaments and two flags were taken and four small lawn ornaments and one flag were damaged in her lawn between 10 and 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Man robbed

Perry Gordan, 39, of Uniontown reported to city police at 9:08 p.m. Saturday that three men jumped him while he was on his bicycle and took $14.

Gordan said he gave the men $14. He said they were wearing dark baggy clothing.

Juvenile assaulted

Donivan Seiler, 17, reported to city police that someone known to him hit him in the head with a lamp at a location on Lenox Street at 8:55 p.m. Saturday.

Seiler suffered two cuts and received seven staples in his head. The incident was turned over to juvenile probation, police said.

Laura Pierce of Walnut Street reported to city police at 8:37 p.m. Saturday that two panes of a window in her home were broken when someone threw a red brick through the window.

Man charged

Police filed charges of public drunkenness against John A. Gates, 46, of 305 E. Patterson Ave. after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition along South Pittsburgh Street on April 3.

He will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Harassment

Police filed charges of harassment against Jason Meade, 24, of 1516 Hyndman St., South Connellsville, after he allegedly entered a Gibson Terrace residence and pushed the female occupant of the home on April 2.

Police did not identify the alleged victim.

Meade will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Assault

Police filed charges of simple assault and harassment against Diane Boone, 29, of 300 Maple St., Mount Pleasant, after she allegedly struck a Connellsville woman, causing injuries to her head that required medical treatment during a March 25 incident.

Police did not identify the alleged victim, who was taken to Highlands Hospital for her injuries.

Boone will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Man charged

Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Brian K. Carrigan, 21, of 104 W. Green St. after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition along Gallatin Avenue on March 31.

He will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Drug charges

Police filed charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and public drunkenness against Mack Tyrone Simms, 29, of 231 Moniset Ave., Donora, after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition along East Fayette Street on Feb. 23.

While police were investigating the disturbance call, Simms was additionally found to be in possession of 17.1 grams of marijuana.

He will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Charges filed

Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Charles Bailey, 37, of 216 Filbert St., Republic, after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition along North Jefferson Street on March 30.

He will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Disorderly conduct

Police filed charges of disorderly conduct against Domer Wade Burkholder Jr., 18, of White after he was allegedly found with prescription drugs during a Feb. 4 incident at the North Fayette Vocational Technical School.

Police said the pills did not belong to Burkholder.

He will appear before District Justice Robert Breakiron at a later date.

Harassment

Police filed charges of harassment and public drunkenness against Dale Davis, 42, of 97 Wills Road, after he was allegedly found in an intoxicated condition and striking a woman at an Arch Street business on March 30.

Police did not identify the alleged victim.

Davis will appear before District Justice Ronald Haggerty at a later date.

Brownsville

Police file March report

Brownsville police responded to 228 calls in March, including 198 in the borough, 14 in Brownsville Township and 16 in other communities.

The officers investigated seven accidents, six in the borough and one in the township. They also made 54 arrests, all in the borough. The arrests included 11 non-traffic arrests, 37 traffic arrests and six ordinance violations.

There were 51 calls to the North Side, 15 to the downtown area, 56 to the Upper South Side, 31 to the Lower South Side, 22 to South Hills Terrace and 16 to Snowden Terrace.

The complaints included three assaults, seven animal complaints, five business alarms and four residential alarms. There were three requests for officers to check on the welfare of individuals, three civil disputes and 18 cases of criminal mischief. There were 14 disturbances, 16 domestic disputes, 10 reports of drug activity and three cases of driving under the influence.

Officers provided three funeral escorts and investigated one firearms violation, six hang-up calls, 10 cases of harassment and seven cases of harassment by communication.

There were eight juvenile problems, two missing persons cases, seven ordinance violations and one case of public drunkenness. Officers handled two robberies, 11 cases of suspicious activities, seven thefts and one case of trespassing. There were five warrants served, four disabled vehicles, two hit-and-run accidents, seven motor vehicle accidents and five parking complaints.

The department received one quad/bike complaint, three reports of stolen vehicles, 11 miscellaneous traffic complaints and two cases of unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The Brownsville police were assisted by other departments once and assisted other departments 16 times. The officers assisted ambulance crews once, fire departments 20 times, mental health officials four times. There were 12 calls in other categories.

Lost/stolen card

Ernestine Dean of 310 Cadwallader St., Brownsville, told police that she received a MAC card in February but can no longer locate it. The lost or stolen card was reported to Brownsville police on Thursday, April 4, at 4:35 p.m. The card had been missing since the end of February.

South Union Twp.

Dealer charged

State police charged Dennis Ray Barrish II of Uniontown with two counts of violating the Board of Vehicles Act on Friday after an investigation into an incident that occurred Oct. 15, 2001, at Superior Ford/Chrysler/Jeep.

Police allege that Barrish sold a vehicle to Mary Lee Younkin of Leisenring at a sale price that included all taxes and fees, but learned after the vehicle was purchased that extra charges were added that were not agreed to at the time of sale.

Barrish was charged with making a false promise likely to influence, persuade or induce the sale of a vehicle and engaging in conduct in connection with the sale of a vehicle which clearly demonstrates unprofessional conduct or incompetence, according to police. Charges against Barrish were filed at the office of District Justice Deberah Kula, police said.

Two-vehicle accident

State police said vehicles driven by Lyndee Rankin of Uniontown and William R. Lindsay of Ronco were involved in an accident Friday at 5:50 p.m. at the intersection of Route 21 and a legislative route. Both drivers sustained minor injuries, police said.

Roy Copeland Jr., 36, of Smithton told state police someone took items from his porch sometime between 6 p.m. Sunday and 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Burglary

State police said someone entered a garage along Meadow Run Road sometime between 5 and 10:15 p.m. Sunday and removed items belonging to Jennie Lou Novak, 52, Ambra Michelle Novak, 23, and Patrick Michael Novak, 24.

Criminal mischief

State police said Carl Walter Cantanal, 43, of Mather was charged with criminal mischief after he forced open a door at the home of June Rose Moore, 65, of Mather on Sunday at 4 a.m.

Cumberland Twp.

Sexual assault

State police said a 4-year-old girl from Cumberland Village was sexually assaulted sometime between March 29 and April 4 by someone known to her. Police are continuing their investigation.

Franklin Twp.

Disorderly conduct

State police said Adolf Bryan Deynzer of Waynesburg was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an incident Sunday at 1:50 a.m. at a location along Route 19.

Barn entered

James Clayton, 57, of Waynesburg told state police said someone used bolt cutters to cut a padlock on his barn sometime Saturday or Sunday and enter the barn. It was not reported whether any items were taken from the barn, police said.

Rhoda Dean of Dilliner told state police her vehicle was stolen while it was parked outside 806 Eighth St. in Mather between 2:30 and 8 a.m. Saturday.

Locker entered

Amanda Sue Hopkins, 17, of Waynesburg told state police someone opened her locker at Waynesburg Central High School Friday between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and took her purse.

Trees cut

Anthony Jestat of Marianna told state police someone cut trees on his wooded lot along Piper Ridge Road sometime between 12 p.m. March 31 and 11 a.m. Friday.
