Dellarose reappointed to authority post
LUZERNE TWP. – Township supervisors re-appointed Ronald Dellarose to a five-year term on Tri-County Joint Municipal Authority. The supervisors voted unanimously in favor of the reappointment Tuesday.
The authority is based in Fredericktown in Washington County, but provides water service to parts of the township including the state prison, which is under construction in the East Millsboro area.
Dellarose, a township resident, serves as chairman of the authority. His current term was set to expire on April 25. His new term runs through April 25, 2007.
In unrelated business, the supervisors approved the purchase of a new highlift for $81,950, which includes the $14,000 trade-in of an old highlift.
The township will finance the $67,950 balance of the sale price for two years.
Supervisors announced that Luzerne and Redstone townships were awarded a $60,000 state grant to study future growth and develop land-use plans.
Residents Rod Schad and Donna Jackson asked the supervisors to consider holding their monthly meetings during the evening instead of starting them at 3 p.m., which is the current practice.
Jackson said she would circulate a petition to gather support for the move and present it to the supervisors.
Supervisors were cool to the idea of evening meetings, but chairman Bill Baker said he would consider it if 50 percent of the township’s residents signed the petition.
