Mardell Henderson Hayes
Mardell Henderson Hayes, 65, of Lower Tyrone Township passed away Tuesday evening, April 9, 2002, at her residence with her husband, children and sisters by her side. She was born July 17, 1936 in Normalville, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Barbara Faye Bungard Henderson.
Mardell was employed by the Frazier School District where she dedicated herself to working with the children she loved. She was a member of the Pennsville Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the Dawson Grange where she held various offices, a member of the Brownfield Community Center Senior Citizens, a charter member of the Dawson Grange Fair Board, a member of the Fayette County Fair Association, a former secretary for Lower Tyrone Township and a faithful volunteer at the Brownfield Community Center.
She is survived by her loving husband Windel R. Hayes of Lower Tyrone Township; six children, daughter Patricia Hayes and husband Robert Acklin, a son Windel Hayes and wife Darlene, a daughter Peggy Hayes and husband Donald Dye, a son Gary Hayes and wife Marcia, a son Lon Hayes and wife Christine, a son Christopher Hayes and wife Maria; a brother Paul Henderson of Scottdale; sisters Betty and husband Dayton Myers of Pittsburgh, Pa., Ida and husband Ken Hoffer of West Middlesex, Pa., Donna and husband Claire Donias of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and Judy Farkus of Normalville, Pa.; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Kathy Ansell, Cindy Tringes and the Albert Gallatin Home Care and Hospice.
Friends will be received in the RALPH E. GALLEY FUNERAL HOME, Railroad and Laughlin Street, Dawson, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of the service. Officiating minister will be Rev. Roger Applebee.
Interment will be in the Normalville Cemetery.
There will be a dinner at the Brownfield Community Center following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Brownfield Community Center.
