Mabel Esther O’Neal
Mabel Esther Means O’Neal, 90, of Adelaide, Pa., has gone to be with the Lord after a long illness. She died at 5:40 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2002, in her home of 62 years. Esther, as she was known by her friends, was born in Dry Hill near Connellsville, Pa., on August 29, 1911.
She lived her whole life in the Connellsville area and was the daughter of Charles Means who died in 1948 and Lilly Grace Eicher Means who died in 1971.
Until her illness she was active in church activities at Calvary Assembly of God Church in South Connellsville.
She also enjoyed sewing, raising flowers, baking cakes and cookies, and canning produce from the garden.
Her husband, Charles W. O’Neal, whom she married on July 11, 1927, in South Connellsville, Pa., passed away April 11, 1974.
Also deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are two sons-in-law, James Bishop (1995) and Robert Parnham (1997), two brothers, Charles “Ralph” Means (1928) and Clyde Emmett Means (1937), and four sisters, Olive Grace Corteal (1969), Pearl Laverne Sekeres (1987), Cora Ellen Franks (1992), and Nanna Mae Work (1998).
She is survived by four children: Kenneth R. O’Neal of Connellsville R.D., Pa., Donald A. O’Neal of Lakewood, Ohio, Lilly E. Parnham of Smithfield, Pa., and Joyce D. Bishop of Connellsville with whom she resided; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, L. T. Means of Connellsville, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., today and Monday from Noon to 9 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 16, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Charles King officiating.
A Committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.
