Five out of six groups receive reassessment notices

2 min read

Five out of six groups of Fayette County property owners have received tentative notices of value from the Fayette property tax equalization project. Property owners in the Connellsville, Dunbar, and Dawson/Vanderbilt areas should have received notices by Monday, April 15. Cole-Layer Trumble (CLT), the revaluation company conducting the countywide mass appraisal, is scheduling informal meetings for property owners with questions or concerns about new property values.

Notices list the tentative fair market value for a property. Owners are asked to decide if they could, or would, sell their property for the amount listed. If the answer is no, then they should call the phone number on the notice by the deadline given at the top of the letter.

During informal meetings, CLT reviewers check information listed in the property record and collect documents or photos from the property owner that show why the owner feels the value should be adjusted.

The final mailing will be sent this week to Ohiopyle Borough and properties in the Uniontown School District, including Franklin, Henry Clay, Menallen, Stewart, and Wharton townships, Markleysburg, and Uniontown.

If property owners have not received a notice, they may check the property web site at www.fayetteproperty.org to verify their mailing address and other information. Property owners without computers may seek assistance from family members, public libraries, and community centers with Internet access. They may also call the public information office at 724-434-6025, or visit the public access computer in the Fayette County Assessment Office at the county courthouse for information on values.
