Hearing to be rescheduled

2 min read

The South Union Township Zoning Hearing Board was forced to reschedule the hearing for the AMVETS Post 103 request when it was discovered that of the three board members present, one was a member of the veteran’s group. On behalf of the Zoning Hearing Board, member Terry McMillen offered apologies to the sizeable crowd that gathered for offering testimony for and against the plan. He explained that although there was a quorum present, only two board members would be able to render a decision that night and if the vote would tie it would complicate matters.

McMillen also noted that while the hearing could have been held, that the board decided it would be more fair to both parties to have a third member present to hear testimony rather than rely on impressions received by reading transcripts. If for some reason the board cannot assemble three voting members for the next hearing date, McMillen noted that provisions for alternates or other legal avenues will be put into effect.

The next regular meeting, which is usually held on the third Tuesday of the month, falls on Election Day and will have to be rescheduled.

McMillen asked all those interested in being notified to leave their names and addresses with the township and also advised reading the legal ads to find the reschedule date.
