April 18, 2002 Fayette City

Woman Charged

Susan Patricia Maksin, 32, of Fayette City was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct for allegedly going to the home of Carole Kingsley Morgan, 66, and Thomas Eugene Morgan Sr., 69, of Fayette City and beginning an argument at 1:20 p.m. Friday. Police said that Maksin was arrested for parole violations as well as being charged.

Vehicle Burglarized

William Kuhn of Arona told police that his vehicle was entered and a Jenson CD radio player and a lock out kit were stolen while parked in the Levin Furniture parking lot between 4 p.m. Saturday and 7:50 p.m. Sunday. Damages and loss were estimated at $480.

Public Drunkenness

Thomas W. Gilmore, 22, of Wickhaven was charged with public drunkenness after he was discovered intoxicated walking on a legislative route at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday.

Property Found

An acetylene tank was found Interstate 70 eastbound at State Route 5 at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday. It is being stored at state police at Belle Vernon. Anyone wishing to claim it is asked to call 724-929-6262.

Woman Injured

State police reported that of that officers found Maryellen Garvey of Wayno at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday her on the floor of her horse barn after being asked to check on her welfare by Kathy Obarto of the Herminie Senior Center. Police noted that Garvey was found laying face down, conscious but unable to move after a horse stumbled and fell, landing on her back and legs. Police said Garvey was taken by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital.

Man Arrested

State police at Waynesburg said John William Cumberledge, 24, of Waynesburg was arrested for public drunkenness and placed in the Greene County Jail after he was found along the intersection of Route 21 and Locust Street at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday.

Tools Stolen

Randy Paxton of Scenery Hill told state police at Waynesburg that someone stole nearly 20 tools from his utility trailer that was parked along Front Street between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Harassment Reported

John Pillo, 31, of Waynesburg told state police at Waynesburg that a 24-year-old Rogersville man entered the Auto Zone along Route 21 and threatened him at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Latch Broken

State police said a latch was removed from an exterior gate at Dominion Transmission Corp. along Route 188 between 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Tuesday. Nothing was removed from the property and no damage was reported, police said.

Whiteley Twp.

Man Cited

State police at Waynesburg said Jeffery Scott Davis, 31, of Spraggs was charged with several traffic violations after a hit-and-run accident along a legislative route at about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. Police said Davis’ vehicle went through a wire fence owned by RAG Cumberland Mine Resources and was lodged atop an I-beam, at which time he fled the scene on foot. Newell Garage fire Fire departments, police and emergency officials responded to a garage fire on Long Street on Tuesday. According to Newell Fire Chief Joseph Dandrea, the fire department received the call around 7:15 p.m. Dandrea said the fire was started when the owner of the six-bay garage, Joe Veltri, started a car inside the garage which ignited an electrical fire in the car. The fire then spread throughout the garage causing extensive damage. The fire also melted the siding on a house behind the garage on Facassin Avenue. According to Dandrea, there were no injuries and the fire was extinguished by 10 p.m. Newell, Brownsville North Side, Washington Township, Fayette City and Belle Vernon VFDs, Brownsville Emergency Service and Belle Vernon Police were dispatched to the scene.

Theft

Richard Fields of Nutt Avenue reported to city police that his satellite dish was taken sometime Tuesday. Uniontown Theft reported Susan Callaghan reported to city police at 4:08 p.m. Tuesday that various items were taken from her brother-in-law’s home on Evans Street. The stolen items include a DVD with surround sound, a cordless telephone, video camera for a computer, a printer/scanner and a box stereo.

Lucile Stepanik of Dunlap Street reported to city police that $40 in coins was taken from a drawer in her home sometime between Thursday and Saturday.

Accident

Three people received minor injuries when vehicles driven by Debbie Henry, 31, of Dunbar Township and Darla Kukurugya, 32, of Lemont Furnace collided Wednesday on West Crawford Avenue at 11:50 a.m. Henry and Kukurugya were transported by ambulance to Highlands Hospital in Connellsville along with Michelle Gettemy, 27, of Mount Braddock, a passenger in Kukurugya’s vehicle. According to a nursing supervisor at Highlands, the three were listed in stable condition.

Criminal Mischief

Dolores Thomas of Walnut Street reported that someone threw eggs at her house at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday. Uniontown Harassment A female juvenile was cited for harassment for allegedly hitting another juvenile female in the head with keys at Pershing Court at 5:14 p.m. Tuesday.
