Mill Run man charged with trying to kill wife
BULLSKIN TWP. – A Mill Run man accused of threatening to kill his wife and daughter remains lodged in Fayette County Prison pending a preliminary hearing in the matter. Keith David Shipley, 31, of 585 Stewarton Road, is charged with attempted criminal homicide, terroristic threats, simple assault and two counts of reckless endangerment stemming from the April 6 incident.
According to the arrest warrant filed with the office of District Justice Robert Breakiron, following a heated argument with his wife, Shipley informed her he planned to set their mobile home on fire and attribute its ignition to an electrical problem being experienced at the residence.
His spouse, Amanda Shipley, attempted to leave the home with the couple’s one-year-old daughter, but was stopped from taking the child by Keith Shipley, said police.
Amanda Shipley later escaped to the nearby home of her mother where Keith Shipley followed her, according to the warrant, and continued to lodge threats against his wife and daughter along with those living at the home.
Sandra Shipley, the mother of Amanda Shipley, exited her home with a handgun and attempted to see the one-year-old who was left in the mobile home.
Police said when Keith Shipley refused to turn over the child, Sandra Shipley fired the weapon at him.
According to investigators, Keith Shipley left the home of Sandra Shipley and returned to his residence to retrieve his daughter. He was later found by police at the Mill Run home of his father.
Keith Shipley was taken to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was arraigned before District Justice Robert Breakiron and lodged in Fayette County Prison after failing to post the $500,000 straight cash bond imposed at the hearing.
A May 14 preliminary hearing has been scheduled in the matter.
