Baltimore woman killed in Route 40 crash

1 min read

A Baltimore woman died Sunday after she and another Maryland driver collided along Route 40 eastbound, approximately one mile from Martin Road in Henry Clay Township at 2:10 p.m. State police said Rita Doggendorf, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead by Dr. Danielle Gerard at Uniontown Hospital. The other driver, Danny Jackson Sr. of Oakland, Md., suffered no injuries in the crash and was wearing a seatbelt.

According to police, Doggendorf was traveling in the left lane of Route 40 and struck Jackson’s vehicle in the left front corner with the right side of her car. Doggendorf then veered across the road and struck an embankment head-on, before her car spun and struck the embankment again with its rear.

Police said Doggendorf was ejected from her vehicle when it finally rolled over.
