Doris E. Hawk, 87, of Greensboro, Pa., died at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. She was born on March 19, 1915 in Greensboro, a daughter of the late Arthur and Lucille Boone Cannon, and resided in Greensboro most of her life.

Mrs. Hawk was Protestant by faith.

She was a former volunteer with the Greene County Historical Society and enjoyed researching and writing about Greensboro history and was an avid reader. Mrs. Hawk was a 1933 graduate of Mapletown High School. She was a former menu planner at Ruby Memorial Hospital and a former house parent with the Pa. Dept. of Corrections in Waynesburg, Pa., and was last employed as a caseworker for the Pa. Dept. of Public Welfare in Waynesburg, prior to retiring in 1976.

On August 26, 1936, she married Jacob Fulton “Chuck” Hawk, who died January 22, 1966.

Surviving are three sons, Dennis N. Hawk and his wife, Phyllis of Kirby, Pa., Russell H. Hawk and his wife Alma of Masontown, Pa., and David A. Hawk with whom she shared her home; two grandsons, Robert and Timothy Hawk; a step grandson, Randy Yoders; a sister, Jean Mundell of Ocala, Fla., and a brother, Joseph “Bud’ Cannon of Port Orange, Fla.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Neva Eckel and Ruth Nuzum and one brother Melvin Cannon.

Friends will be received at the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. with Rev. Donald E. Gillenwater Sr., officiating.

Interment will follow in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa.
