Fraud probed
Melissa Little of Prospect Street told city police at 9:46 a.m. Wednesday that someone known to her used her Social Security number to obtain cable in her name. Little told police she is unable to obtain cable until she pays a $100 balance.

Charges pending
State police said charges for possession of a controlled substance are pending against a 23-year-old Youngwood man after he was found with marijuana and 10 diazepam tablets during a traffic stop along Route 119 at 5:40 a.m. March 31.

Burglary reported
Kimberly Ann Bibby, 36, of Dawson told state police that a Marlin 22 long rifle, a Sony PlayStation 2, game cartridges and compact discs were taken from her Main Street home between 10 p.m. April 20 and 2:30 a.m. April 21.

Bradley Manzola, 47, of Fayette City told state police that someone broke the rear window of his vehicle on Lowber Road between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Man arrested
George Dickinson, 46, of Brownsville was arrested for violating a protection from abuse order after he allegedly made a threatening telephone call to Yvonne Dickinson, 45, of Daisytown at her Main Street home at 1:57 p.m. Tuesday, state police said.

Vehicles collide
State police said debris from a two-vehicle accident involving Paul Myers, 72, of Lancaster and Eugene Nagy, 22, of Donora struck a vehicle driven by Robert Grimm, 31, of Connellsville on Interstate 70 eastbound at 10:10 a.m. Thursday. No one was injured.

Jeffrey Brian Ott, 37, of Eighty-Four was cited for harassment after he allegedly verbally harassed Marcia Jean Ott, 39, of Smock at 12:30 a.m. Friday, state police said.

Dannel Calcagni of Star Junction was cited for harassment after he allegedly threw a beer can at his 15-year-old son in an attempt to discipline him on Arch Street, Star Junction, at 11 p.m. Thursday, state police said.

Connie Kay Verbus, 32, of Smithfield told state police that a girl’s bicycle was taken from her porch at her Strickland Estates home between 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. Thursday.

Man arrested
William Charles Ohler, 32, of Connellsville was arrested for simple assault and other charges after he allegedly struck Carole Louise Boord, 54, of Connellsville with a shovel on Pole Cat Hollow Road at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, state police said.
He was arraigned before District Justice Deberah Kula and placed in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $5,000 bond.

Casey E. Shananberger of Uniontown told state police that someone thew rocks and damaged his vehicle on Lebanon Avenue between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Donald May Jr., 21, of Normalville suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident on County Line Road at 1 p.m. Wednesday, state police at Greensburg said.

Citations pending
City police said citations are pending against a Uniontown man who allegedly broke a window on a storm door and struck Jason Sanger in the face and shoulders on North Gallatin Avenue at 6:42 p.m. Thursday. Sanger refused treatment, police said.

Robert Coneway of Walnut Street told city police Thursday that two televisions, a stereo, miscellaneous household decorations and a cable box were taken from his home between March 25 and April 18.

Vehicle catches fire
City police extinguished a fire in a 1991 Ford Tempo, license plate number DPB8451, on East Kerr Street at 10:11 p.m. Monday, city police said.
The Uniontown Fire Department also responded.

Andre Galloway of Locust Street told city police at 6:57 p.m. Monday that someone broke into his home and stole a Sony PlayStation with controllers and two videotapes.

Charges filed
Connellsville police filed charges in the following cases:
– Police charged Arnold T. Cramer, 37, of 450 E. Main St., Uniontown, with public drunkenness after he allegedly was found intoxicated while sitting in a car at the intersection of North Prospect and Fayette streets April 9.
– Police charged Tonya Druetta Cameron, 24, of 335 S. Jefferson St. with harassment after she allegedly made several harassing telephone calls to a local business. Police did not identify the business or the time period of the alleged telephone calls.
– Police filed charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness against William Henry DeBerry, 46, of 44 W. Craig St., Uniontown, after he allegedly was found intoxicated and causing a disturbance along North Prospect Street on April 17.
– Police filed charges of retail theft against Wornie Levi Ohler, 30, of 458 Clinton Road, White, after he allegedly failed to pay for gasoline at the Memorial Boulevard Sheetz convenience store April 15.
– Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Melvin Nicholson Sr., 37, of 408 N. Jefferson St., after he allegedly was found intoxicated and attempting to enter an East Crawford Avenue apartment April 16.
– Police filed charges of disorderly conduct against Jack Palmer, 60, of 125 S. Pittsburgh St. after allegedly receiving complaints from residents that loud music was being played at Palmer’s Tavern on April 14.
– Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Jose Sanchez, 40, of Connellsville, after he allegedly was found intoxicated condition along West Morton Avenue on April 15.
– Police filed charges of disorderly conduct against Shawn L. Brown, 31, of 38 Pershing Court, Uniontown, after he allegedly was found creating a disturbance at Highlands Hospital on April 14.
– Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Ronald Calvin Shaw, 53, of 323 E. Crawford Ave. after he allegedly was found intoxicated along East Crawford Avenue on April 12.

Two charged
Police filed charges of public drunkenness against Terry Young, 40, of 122 Baylor Ave., Uniontown, and Thomas Joseph Hines Jr., 43, of 24 Lenox St., Uniontown, after they were allegedly found intoxicated along Sycamore Street on April 16.
Police took Young to the Fayette County Prison after learning a warrant had been issued for his arrest in an unrelated matter.

Six charged
Police filed charges of criminal trespass against Mark Hollis, 18, of 246 Circle Drive, Mount Pleasant, Phillip Burnsworth, 18, of 216 W. Gibson Ave., Connellsville, and four juveniles after they allegedly were found in an abandoned West Fayette Street residence without the permission of the owner April 9.

Woman robbed
Police filed charges of robbery, theft and aggravated assault against an unnamed 17-year-old boy after he allegedly stole the purse of a 75-year-old woman April 19.
According to police, the teen knocked the unidentified elderly woman to the ground along Pittsburgh Street. Police later apprehended him with the assistance of a local resident.
The woman was treated face at Frick Hospital for a broken left shoulder and abrasions to her arms. The teen was lodged in Westmoreland County Juvenile Detention Center.

Death investigated
Foul play is not suspected in the death of a 34-year-old Stewart Township man who was found unresponsive in his home at 9:46 p.m. Thursday.
Chris Steven Johnson of Dunbar-Ohiopyle Road was found by his wife, according to state police.
Although the cause of death is still unknown, Fayette County Coroner Dr. Phillip Reilly said “no foul play is suspected.” He said authorities are awaiting toxicology tests to determine the cause of death.

Arson suspected
Arson is suspected in a fire that damaged a duplex at 479-481 Filbert-Orient Road, Redstone Township, at 11:14 p.m. Thursday, state police said.
Police said the fire started on the front porch half of 479 Fairbank-Orient Road when garbage on the porch was set on fire. The residence was vacant.
The occupant of the other half of the home, Dawn Costello, discovered the fire and called 911. No one was injured. The owner of that half is Rudolph Velosky Jr. of Fairbank.
William and Jennifer Jacobs of New Salem are owners of House 479.

Larry J. Leech told state police that a brick was thrown through a window and door at the Route 857 Coffee Shop between 8:30 p.m. Friday and 5:20 a.m. Saturday.

Police investigate
Diane Smith told state police a person claiming to be a state police trooper pulled her over, questioned her about her whereabouts and released her around 10:30 p.m. Friday on the Route 119 bypass, between the Gallatin Avenue and Pittsburgh Street exits.
She said the white man was about 35 years old, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 130 to 140 pounds. He was wearing a gray shirt, black tie and black leather jacket.

Hit-and-run probed
State police said charges are pending against a New Salem man who backed into a vehicle driven by James Russell Ramage, 31, Farmington, W.Va., and fled the scene at 4:55 p.m. Friday in the village of Searights.

Windows on a backhoe owned by T & J Excavation of Smithfield were smashed between Saturday and Monday in a wooded area off Mack Farm Road.

Woman not injured
Delphine V. Guthrie, 70, was not injured when the vehicle she was driving was struck by a hit-and-run motorist at the intersection of Route 857 and a legislative route around 9:32 p.m. Thursday.

Burglary
Generators, gasoline pumps, 20 rolls of copper pipe, power saws, chain saws, pipe saws and other construction tools owned by D.T. Construction of Dunbar and valued at $30,000 were stolen from a site along Ridge Boulevard between 6 p.m. Thursday and 6:15 a.m. Friday.

A 1983 Prairie Kawasaki ATV owned by Christine Davis was stolen from along Kira Drive between Wednesday and Thursday.

Assault reported
A 14-year-old runaway girl from the Greensburg area was located in Connellsville on Wednesday and returned to her home by state police from Uniontown.
Police said the girl was taken to Frick Hospital in Mount Pleasant after overdosing on prescription antidepressant drugs. While being treated, she told police she had consensual sexual relations with two men, ages 19 and 20. However, the fact that she is only 14 meets the elements of the crime of statutory sexual assault, police said.
The investigation is continuing.

Kim David of Highland Avenue told city police that someone damaged the rear driver’s side window of her vehicle with a beer bottle at 12:05 p.m. Friday.

Gun stolen
Jack Cole of Miller Farm Road told city police that someone stole a Smith and Wesson 38-caliber handgun from his unlocked vehicle. He told police he is not sure if the gun was taken while his car was parked along South Mount Vernon Avenue Friday from 7 to 8 a.m. or when it was parked at his Menallen Township home.
