Robert G. Stimmel
Robert G. Stimmel, 75, of Beallsville, Pa., died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at 8 a.m. in his home. He was born December 17, 1936, in Uledi, Fayette County, Pa., son of Alex Stimmel and Jennie Mae Heffelfinger Stimmel.
Robert was a 1944 graduate of the former Centerville High School and worked as a Foreman for Millsboro Lumber Company, Millsboro, Pa.
He also owned and operated Stimmel Remodeling and Supply in Beallsville for 20 years.
He then graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and taught Carpentry/Building Trades for two years at the Forbes Area Vocational-Technical School, Monroeville, Pa., and also taught for 12 years at the Greene County Vocational-Technical School before retiring in 1994.
Mr. Stimmel was a Veteran of World War II who served in the United States Army as a Platoon Sergeant in the 2nd Battalion 17th Infantry in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was also involved in the occupation of Japan.
He was a former Charter Member and past Treasurer of the Beallsville-Centerville-Richeyville Lions Club and was former Master Member of Deemston Grange.
He was a member of Beallsville United Methodist Church.
On February 12, 1955, he married Jacqueline Marie Boozer Stimmel, who survives.
Also surviving are two children: Barbara Ann Stimmel, Hinesville, Georgia, and Samuel A. Stimmel and his wife, Kimberly, Washington, Pa.; two grandchildren: Emily Stimmel and Thomas A. Stimmel; one brother, William H. Stimmel, Centerville, Pa.; and two sisters: Emily Sheen of Zephyr Hills, Florida, and Cora Bess Horner of Upperco, Maryland.
A granddaughter, Samantha Lyn Stimmel, died in December 1992. Also deceased are a brother, Edgar A. Stimmel, and his parents.
Friends will be received in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Route 40, Beallsville, Pa., on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Thursday, may2, at 121 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Gregg officiating.
Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
