Sewerage authority discusses member’s absences
LUZERNE TWP. – At this week’s sewerage authority meeting, officials discussed the reoccurring absence of board member Bob Miller. Miller, who has taken a job that requires him to be out of town, has missed three consecutive board meetings.
“Authority bylaws state that an official must attend at least 50 percent of all meetings,” said authority President Bob Peton.
According to authority records, Miller has missed 19 of 32 regularly scheduled meetings, while attending only 13 over the past two plus years.
“Bob (Miller) has to make a firm commitment to us that he will attend more often,” Peton informed the board. “Otherwise, we’ll have to look for a replacement.”
Peton then informed the board that he received a letter from Miller wishing that no decision be made until Peton and Miller meet before the next board meeting. After advising the board members of Miller’s wishes, Peton left the issue open for discussion.
“I really have no comment on the matter,” said board member Anthony Capuzzi. Board member James Lent also had no comment.
“What does the board wish me to do then?” asked Peton. “Do we give him another chance? Finding a replacement isn’t going to be easy.”
The board decided that Peton should talk to Miller before the next scheduled board meeting to discuss his future on the board.
“I will talk with him,” said Peton. “I think that will be for the best.”
