Viola Luzier Harris
Viola J. Luzier Harris, 95, of Nemacolin, Pa., died at 11:50 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2002, at Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg. She was born September 5, 1906, in Garard Township, Clearfield County, Pa., a daughter of Elmer Dundee Luzier and Sarah Jane Graham Luzier.
Mrs. Harris was a member of First United Methodist Church of Carmichaels, Pa.
She was a former member of the former New Providence (Glades) Presbyterian Church of Carmichaels where she was active in the Willing Workers and also the Church Missionary Group.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Harris was the oldest member of the former Glades Presbyterian Church.
She was a Homemaker and resided in Nemacolin since 1928.
Mrs. Harris was a resident of Bialko’s Rest Home in Waynesburg at the time of her death.
On August 1, 1925, she married George J. Harris. He died November 21, 1986.
Also deceased are two sons, Ronald Harris who died in infancy and Melvin J. Harris, a daughter, Sara Louise Carafa, three brothers, Lloyd, Frank and Kyle Luzier, five sisters, Cannie Schultz, Delia Jury, Ruth Triponey, Anna Shuggerts, Mabel Wilson, and her parents. She was the last of her immediate family.
Surviving are a son, Richard G. Harris and his wife, Helga, of Nemacolin, Pa.; two daughters: Julia Reynolds and her husband, Wayne, of Rices Landing, Pa., and Margaret “Peggy” J. Anderson and her husband, Ronald, of Dilliner, Pa.; 13 grandchildren: Dixie Primosch, James Harris, Barry Harris, Emma Jane Presock, Marlene Morris, Rick Harris, Joseph Anderson, Debby Berquist, John Roper, Robert Harris, Mark Carafa, George Roper, Scott Reynolds; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels, Pa., today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. where Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 1, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Roger C. Saunders will officiate.
Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 104 West South Street, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
Visitation was also held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
