Simple assault trial begins Judge declares mistrial
The Fayette County trial for Harry E. Parker ended in a mistrial Monday after a witness testified that Parker had been in jail twice before.
Parker, 22, of 312 Smithfield/Masontown Road is charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and corruption of a minor for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a 13-year-old last year. It was the alleged assault victim who testified that Parker had been jailed before.
Two of the alleged acts occurred at the teen’s residence in South Union Township, and another alleged assault occurred in a cemetery across from the Uniontown Hospital, allege police.
Parker was represented by Assistant District Attorney Mary Campbell Spegar. Assistant District Attorney Jack R. Heneks Jr. prosecuted the case before President Judge William J. Franks.
