Joseph Edward Young, 47, of Uniontown, Pa., died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born Sept. 10, 1954, in Santa Anna, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his birth mother, Thelma Young, in 1976; and a special nephew, Charles David Springer in May of 2002.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy Springer Young; his parents, Edward T. and Delores B. Rodeheaver Young of Amend, Pa.; a previous spouse, Cynthia Young Butler of Leisenring, Pa.; three sons, Jason Young and his wife, Kim of Texas, Jeremy Young of Lancaster, Pa., and Justin Young of Leisenring, Pa.; three brothers, Terry Kelley and his wife, Sandra of Smithfield, Pa., Jerry Kelley and his wife, Annette and Barry Kelley, all of Westminster, Calif.; and two special nieces, Charlotte Springer and Christine Teets.

Mr. Young was a Heaterman for United States Steel Corporation, Clairton Works, for over 29 years, and was a member of the AMVETS General George C. Marshall Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa.

Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Nick Beatty officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
