Robbery investigated

City police are investigating a 3:50 a.m. Wednesday robbery of BFS Foods, 456 Morgantown St.

An employee told police that two while men with their faces covered took at least $100 from the cash register and several packs of cigarettes.

One robber, who was described as approximately 6 foot tall with a mustache, took the cigarettes while the other suspect, described as approximately 5-feet-10-inches tall, produced what the employee said looked like a butter knife and took the cash.

While officers were talking to the employee, a resident of nearby Albion Street came to the store and told officers that the suspects were in the back seat and two black men were in the front seat of a white car that stopped on Albion about 10 minutes before police arrived.

The resident told police that the two white men stepped out of the car and appeared to be hiding behind some bushes at the corner of Albion and Morgantown streets. The resident said he approached them and told them to leave the area.

The two suspects then walked west on Albion Street. The resident’s description of the two men matched the description given by the employee.

Police noted that they passed a white car on the way to the scene and, later, found the car parked in the rear of a Millview Street residence. Police said their investigation is continuing.
