Earl E. Savage

Earl Edward Savage, 99, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Monday morning, Aug. 12, 2002, in Mount Macrina Manor Nursing Home. He was born March 1, 1903, in Markleysburg, Pa., the son of the late Robert and Mary Fike Savage.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Emma Stets Savage on Sept. 27, 1994; his brothers, James and George Savage; his sisters, Jennie and Ada Savage, Nettie Fike, Cora Thomas, Minnie Patterson, Mary Bierer, Dora Priester and Edith Savage; his son-in-law, Daniel Mihalko; a daughter-in-law, Rosemary Lazaran Savage and a grandson-in-law, Donald K. Dowling Jr.

He was a graduate of North Union Township High School, Class of 1921. He was a life member of Central Christian Church, and was the last member of his immediate family.

Earl was employed for 35 years at the Richmond Radiator Plant in Uniontown. After it closed, he was employed as office manager at the Fayette County Home in Uniontown, until his retirement.

He enjoyed baseball, basketball and football.

Earl was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather; and great great-grandfather.

Surviving are three children, Doris A. Mihalko of Uniontown, Earl J. Savage of Mishawaka, Ind., and James E. Savage and his wife, Karen of Uniontown; nine grandchildren, Dana Tomcanin and husband, William of Export, Pa., Mark Mihalko of Uniontown, Pa., Karen Hegedis and husband, Randy of McClellandtown, Pa., Debra Mihalko, Paul Mihalko and wife, Amy, James Mihalko and David Mihalko and wife, Kathy, all of Uniontown, James Savage and wife, Christine of Washington, D.C., and Steve Savage of Mishawaka, Ind.; 17 great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; a nephew, Robert Savage of Uniontown; nieces, Doris Thomas of Virginia, and Evelyn Savage of Uniontown; many great and great great-nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARSKY III FUNERAL HOME, AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVE., Uniontown, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Art Mace officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Mount Macrina Manor Nursing Center.
