Mary M. Parr
Mary M. Parr, 91, of Connellsville, Pa., died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in Highlands Hospital. She was born Jan. 1, 1911, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late John and Julia Levi Sarko.
Mary was a resident of Connellsville for most of her life. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville, and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
In addition to being a loving homemaker, Mary was the former owner and operator of Judy Jean Pastries in Uniontown.
She is survived by three daughters, Monica McCarthy of Canonsburg, and Judy Forsythe and her husband, Richard and Jean Humbert and her husband, VanDyke W. III, all of Connellsville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Parr of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Sikon and her husband, Val of Scottdale.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred S. Parr; a son, Fred J. Parr; a son-in-law, Edward McCarthy; two sisters, Emma Soucy and Elizabeth Balazs; and four brothers, Michael, Thomas, Joseph and John Sarko.
Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green St., Connellsville, on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m., in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception R. C. Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Terry Hercik as celebrant. A committal service and interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A wake service will be held on Thursday at 8:45 p.m., in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be given to the St. Benedict’s Monastery, 4530 Perrysville Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15229, in memory of Mary M. Parr.
