Ronald R. Johns Sr.
Ronald Ralph Cameron (Bunny) Johns Sr., of Brownsville, Pa., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, in the Mon Valley Hospital, Monongahela, Pa. He was born March 8, 1930, in Brownsville, Pa., son of the late Wallace and Alice Jeanette Thompson Johns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Armon Johns and Allen S. Johns Sr.; a sister, Alice “Tootie” Johns Taylor; and a great-grandson, Joseph Nicholas Santorocco.
Bunny graduated from Brownsville High School in 1948, and was recognized for his scholastic and athletic skills. As a tailback, he led the Brownsville football team to four consecutive undefeated seasons. He was employed for 34 years by the U.S. Steel Corporation, and worked as a Shearman at the Clairton Works, Clairton, Pa., retiring in 1986. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Geraldine M. Johns; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Sims, wife of the late John Sims of Uniontown, Pa., Geraldine M. Jones and husband, Jeffrey of Brownsville, Pa., and Mrs. Janet Knisley of California, Pa., and husband, Estel; and one son, Ronald Johns Jr., and wife, Barbara of LaBelle, Pa. He is also survived by six granddaughters, Rosalind Knisley-Santorocco and husband, Joseph of Boyd, Md., Nicole Johns of LaBelle, Pa., Lana Knisley of Uniontown, Pa., Autumn Jones-Lantz and husband, Aaron of Uniontown, Pa., Chanel Johns of Gainesville, Va., and fianc?e, Timothy Bikowicz and Courtney Jones of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three great-granddaughters, Alexis and Giavanna Santorocco and Jurnee Lantz; one brother, Paul “Noodie” Johns and wife, Bertha of Brownsville, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Arabelle Lancaster of Hiller, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
All Services: The Wake and Remembrance Services today from 4 to 9 p.m., and the Celebration of Life Services on Thursday at 11 a.m., will be held at the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 214 Cadwallader St., Brownsville, Pa., with the Rev. Carl Kemp officiating. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
