William H. Jolliffe

William H. “Dude” Jolliffe of Dilliner, Pa., died on his 77th birthday, Aug. 13, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Rogersville, Pa. He was born in Poland Mines, in 1925, a son of the late William and Lucy Ansel Jolliffe.

He was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Dilliner, and the UMWA Local 6310 in Greensboro.

He previously worked for PennDOT, and retired from Duquesne Light Coal Company.

Dude enjoyed hunting and fishing in the mountains with his friend, Virgil Casini, and visiting with his many friends at Jedo’s Restaurant. He was especially proud of his membership in the F.&A.M. Valley Lodge No. 459 in Masontown.

Surviving are two daughters, Marsha Milliken of Rogersville, and her husband, Sam and Norma Jean Jolliffe of Michigan; and six grandchildren, Natalie Jolliffe, Zachary, Samantha and Savannah Milliken and Clint and Charity Richter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear wife, Edna Everly Jolliffe on Sept. 6, 1993; a brother, Charles; and sisters, Ethel David, Mary Jolliffe, Bessie Bell and Edith Jolliffe, in infancy.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, in the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. William Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf’s Cemetery, Dilliner. Masonic Services will be held on Friday at 7:30 p.m., in the funeral home.
