Ethel Malchenson
Ethel (Holly) Hollinger Malchenson, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at her residence in Harrisburg, Pa. She was born September 8, 1923, in Littlestown, Pa., the daughter of the late Frank and Allie Belle Huff Hollinger and was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Malchenson and four brothers, Paul, Bernard, Jerre and Harold Hollinger.
Holly was a member of the Chalk Hill United Methodist Church and an honored member of the Great Meadows Garden Club, and a Paul Harris Fellow (Rotary). Holly graduated from the Littlestown High School and Bucknell University, receiving a B.S. degree in Commerce & Finance/Elementary Education.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Paul Malchenson; two sons, David Malchenson of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Douglas Malchenson and wife, Ann Marie of Harrisburg, Pa.; two daughters, Melicent Malchenson of Frederick, Md., and Ellen Malchenson of Hershey, Pa.; four grandchildren, Megan, Anthony and Jonathan Malchenson and Ross Gibson; and four sisters, Catherine Groft of New Oxford, Pa., Julia Boller of Rocky Ridge, Md., Ruth Starry of Shippensburg, Pa., and Arlene Windh of Santa Ynez, Calif.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Andrew D. Ferguson Funeral Home Inc., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa. Friends will be received at the Chalk Hill United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 17, 2002, from 9 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Terry Collins, Chalk Hill United Methodist Church and Dr. Charles Hiller, Summerdale United Methodist Church, Harrisburg, Pa., officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset View Cemetery, Chalk Hill, PA 15421. American Legion Post No. 51 and VFW No. 8543 will accord full Military Rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ethel Hollinger Malchenson Scholarship Fund, Frostburg State University, Frostburg, MD 21532, or Chalk Hill United Methodist Church, Old Mill Road, Chalk Hill, PA 15421.
