Thelma A. Castore

Thelma A. Castore, 94, of Uniontown, Pa., died Friday, August 16, 2002. She was born May 25, 1908, in Masontown, Pa., daughter of George Castore and Emma Gillespie Castore.

Miss Castore taught in both the former North Union Township and Georges Township schools and completed her teaching career of 46 years in Carrollton, Ohio.

She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Life Member of the Pennsylvania State Retired Teachers Association, Fayette County Association of School Retirees, and Uniontown Circle Club, and past member of The Golden Age Club.

A sister, Emily Burford, a brother, George Castore, and parents preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sisters: Ruth Bowden of Uniontown, Pa., and Hazel Lapidus and her husband, Dr. Bernard Lapidus, of Clearwater, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the JEROME W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, August 19, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Kenneth Jones officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown.
