Senior Brain Games set Fayette County Community Action Agency’s (FCCAA) Aging Department said the Fayette County’s 11th annual Senior Brain Games will be held on Wednesday at the Uniontown Senior Center on 137 N. Beeson Ave., Uniontown.
Registration begins promptly at 12:30 p.m., with the games beginning at 1 p.m.
“This is a way to test your “Brain Power” and have fun at the same time,” said Faye Augustine, FCCAA’s aging project manager. “It is a fun and eventful afternoon for everyone involved.”
“Bee Mania 2002” is the theme for this year’s event that features Fayette County’s Senior Spelling Bee Championship. Each participating team is assigned a television game to play including renditions of the “Family Feud,’ “The Price is Right,’ “Wheel of Fortune,’ “Celebrity Squares,’ “The Weakest Link’ and “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’
The next challenge at the Senior Brain Games are the table games which is an assortment of puzzles, games and quizzes to complete as a team. This is followed by the Fayette County Senior Spelling Bee Championship.
Any senior can participate in the Senior Spelling Bee Championship, however for the other games, seniors are asked to develop teams of four to five members to compete in the Brain Games, including a team captain.
A maximum of 15 teams can participate in the team events, so interested seniors are asked to register soon. A majority of teams reign from various senior centers from across Fayette County including the Uniontown Senior Center, Mountain Citizens Action Group, the Fairchance Senior Center, the Bullskin Township Senior Citizen Center, the Connellsville Senior Tigers, the Masontown Senior Center, Republic Crosskeys and Center on the Hill.
Lunch will also be available at the Uniontown Senior Center, as it is every Monday through Friday for seniors who register by 11:30. Refreshments will also be offered at the event.
