Rev. Phillip A. Maronde
Rev. Phillip A. Maronde, 69, of Centerville, Pa., died Tuesday, August 20, 2002, in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on September 20, 1932, son of the late Arthur and Margaret Maronde.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two nephews, Gary Kusky and Keith Kusky.
He married his wife of 50 years, Maxine Thewes, on June 28, 1952.
From 1954 to 1958 he served in the United States Air Force and spent two years overseas.
Rev. Maronde graduated from Westminster College, attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and was ordained as a Presbyterian Minister on May 20, 1962.
During his pastorate of 35 years he served the following Presbyterian churches: Old Concord, Windy Gap, Chartiers Hill, Westland and New Salem.
He retired from his last call in 1997 after serving there for 21 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: a daughter, Doris and her husband, Mike Gavala, and son, Anthony Spadaro, of Brownsville, Pa., a daughter, Elaine and her husband, John Paull, and their daughter, Katrina, and son, John, of Grindstone, Pa., a son, Carl Maronde and his wife, Nancy, and their sons, Scott, Greg and Doug, of McMurray, Pa., and a son, Mark Maronde and his wife, Carrie, and their daughter, Caila, of Chardon, Ohio; a sister, Shirley Kusky and her husband, Don; a niece, Diane Tschannen; and a nephew, Donald Kusky.
In celebration of his life a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2002, at 3 p.m. in Centerville United Methodist Church, 823 Old National Pike, Centerville, Pa., with Pastor Edd Myers officiating.
