Smock Margaret Yozie, age 82, a resident of Smock, Pa., died Saturday, August 24, 2002, in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.

She was born on September 29, 1919, in Lemont Furnace, Pa., the eldest child of John Yozie and Anna Eski Yozie.

Margaret was a devoted daughter who spent her young years helping to care for her mother and siblings.

After her mother died in 1974 she maintained a caring home for her father until his death in 1982.

Her senior years brought joy to many shut-ins when she would help deliver Meals on Wheels as a senior volunteer from the Center in the Woods, California, Pa.

She loved music and her radio was her constant companion.

Margaret also had a lovely voice and would strum her elaborately decorated wash board and sing with the German Club at the Senior Center and with this same club when they took their choir to various nursing homes in the local area.

Margaret took great pride in her appearance and loved to wear her costume jewelry, many pieces of which were given to her by her friends at the Center.

“Sparkle Plenty” was a fond nickname by which these friends often called her.

Margaret was always ready to brighten your day with a smile and little joke.

Her entire life was dedicated to always being there to help and be with her family whenever she was needed.

God called her to bring some of that “Sparkle” to Heaven!

She will be greatly missed by all!

She was a longtime member of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church in Brownsville, Pa., and for the past two years of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church in Smock.

A brother, John Yozie, a sister, Elizabeth Yozie Eloshway, and parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by brothers: Albert Yozie and wife Jane Monderella Yozie, Grindstone, Pa., and Michael Yozie and wife Audrey Whipkey Yozie, Dunbar, Pa.; three nephews with whom she had a special loving relationship: Kent Yozie, Mark Yozie, and David Yozie; aunts: Mrs. Julius (Esther) Kukurugya and Mrs. Ted (Ruth) Workman both of Coolspring, Pa., and Mrs. James (Helen) Barto, Masontown, Pa.; a sister, Anna Eski Yozie; as well as many numerous nephews and nieces.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, August 27, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Keith Conover and the Rev. Alexander Jalso officiating.

Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
