Joseph Kepich

Joseph Kepich, 81, of Richeyville, Pa., died Friday, November 29, 2002 in Presbyterian Senior Care Facility of Washington. He was born February 27, 1921 in Taylor Old Forge, Pa., a son of Michael and Julia Resetar Kepich.

Mr. Kepich was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Luserda in the Pacific Theatre of Operations as a Pilot of Amphibious Landing Craft and aided in the landing invasions of Saipan and Iwo Jima.

He was an employed as a coal miner for over 40 years and had worked in several area coal mines as a loader including Vesta 4 and Shannopin Mine of Bobtown before retiring in 1986.

Mr. Kepich was a member of the Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 of Centerville, the Richeyville Miners Club and the United Mine Workers of America.

He never married.

Surviving are one sister Irene Marshall of Fredericktown and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are three brothers John, Mike and Steve Kepich and one sister Mary Leitner.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main St., Beallsville, Pa. Time of service will be announced in a later edition and will commence on Tuesday, December 3, 2002.

Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. Full graveside military rites will be accorded by Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705 of Centerville.
