Theft

George Wayne Martin, 29, of Uniontown was arrested for theft, receiving stolen property, loitering and prowling at night, driving under the influence, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and operating a vehicle while under a DUI suspension after an incident on Superior Street between 8:55 and 9:36 p.m. Thursday, state police said.

Police said Martin was intoxicated and creating a disturbance at a home, then allegedly stole a truck from a neighboring home and drove it a short distance before he became stuck in a ditch.

Several neighbors kept him at the scene before he was arrested.

Police said Martin refused to provide a chemical blood test, which will result in suspension of his driving privileges for another year.

The victim in the incident was listed as Floyd Strangroom of Brownsville.

Martin was arraigned before District Justice Mark Blair and placed in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $50,000 cash bond.

North Union Twp.

Fire reported

West Leisenring, North Union Township, Hopwood and Dunbar volunteer fire departments responded to a structure fire on Bute Road at 12:26 p.m. Thursday, according to the Fayette County 911 Center. Additional information was unavailable.

Hit-and-run probed

State police said a white man driving a maroon Dodge Intrepid struck a vehicle driven by Sean M. Olinsky, 36, of New Salem on Route 119 southbound past Subway and fled the scene at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday. Olinsky was not injured.

The unknown driver, in his teens or early 20s, has brown hair and a chipped front tooth, is 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighs 155 to 160 pounds, has a scar around his chin and was wearing a baseball cap and jeans, police said.

The vehicle might have front-end damage on the passenger side, according to police.

ATVs taken

Two all-terrain vehicles and a tree stand, owned by Richard Celaschi of Fayette City and John Celaschi of Perryopolis, were taken from an unsecured barn near the Celaschi home between noon Nov. 10 and 8:30 a.m. Thursday, state police said.

Vehicle damaged

A vehicle owned by Patricia D. David of Uniontown was damaged on the north entrance ramp of Route 43 at Big Six Road at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, state police said.

Purchase denied

State police said a known person allegedly tried to buy a handgun at Marra’s Mountaineer Sports Shop at 1:40 p.m. July 9 but was denied due to a previous incident that prohibited him from purchasing, possessing or owning a gun.

South Union Twp.

Teen shot

A 14-year-old was accidentally shot in the finger while target shooting with a friend in a wooded area off Cider Road at 6 p.m. Nov. 3, state police said.

The teen was treated at Uniontown Hospital, police said.

Man arrested

Robert Allen Krepps, 22, of Smithfield was arrested for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an incident on Second Street Extension at 3 p.m. Wednesday, state police said.

Krepps was placed in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $10,000 cash bond.

Mischief reported

Elizabeth Woodley, 33, told state police that when she moved her vehicle at her home, the wheel studs were damaged because someone had loosened nine lug nuts. The offense occurred between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

Richard D. Welty, 29, of Perryopolis was cited for harassment for allegedly striking Michael T. Gluz, 29, of Jacobs Creek at Pappy’s Bar in Jacob’s Creek at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, state police at said.

Car stolen

A purple 1995 Geo Prizm, owned by Rita and Robert Norman of Tower Hill 2 and bearing the license plate number EMK9827, was taken from their Main Street driveway while it was running at 5:54 a.m. Wednesday, state police at Belle Vernon said.

Herbert G. Greene of State College was not injured in a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 40 and a legislative route at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, state police said.

Window broken

A known person allegedly smashed out the tail light and driver’s side window of a vehicle in the parking lot of a church on McCoy Hollow Road at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, state police said.

The glass shattered and struck Steven M. Sekeres and Nathan M. Nicklow, both 18, of Connellsville. Police are investigating.

State police said that the rear window of Lynn M. Ambrose’s 1991 Honda Civic was damaged by a beer bottle between Thursday evening and Friday morning. The car was parked along Smith Road.
