Connellsville police file charges in armed robbery
CONNELLSVILLE – City police have filed charges against an Everson man in connection with the armed robbery at a local gas station after receiving information from three individuals. Joseph C. Stenger, 20, of 326 Painter St. was charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property stemming from the Nov. 22 incident.
Stenger also matched the description given to police following the robbery.
According to the police complaint filed with District Justice Robert Breakiron, a masked Stenger allegedly entered the Graft Sunoco located on McCormick Avenue and told the owner, Andrew Junk to “give me your money and don’t move.”
Junk turned over the $610 in cash he had in his pocket to Stenger, said police.
Stenger was arraigned before Breakiron and placed in Fayette County Prison after failing to post a $10,000 straight cash bond.
Police said the matter is still under investigation.
A preliminary hearing will be scheduled for Stenger at a later date.
City police, meanwhile, are still looking for the individual who robbed a Domino’s Pizza Shop employee at gunpoint on Nov. 20 as he was leaving the North Pittsburgh Street business.
The unidentified employee told police someone approached him from the side of the building with a silver revolver and demanded that the money he was carrying be turned over.
The robber then left on foot with approximately $300.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact police at 724-628-2501, extension 114.
