Robert E. “Bumps” Bierbower, 87, of Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Cherry Tree Nursing Center. He was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Uniontown, Pa., son of the late Fred and Cora May Boring Bierbower.

Bumps was a graduate of Uniontown High School, retired from West Penn Power Company, and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member and deacon of the Third Presbyterian Church, member of the John Knox Bible Class, and Fayette Lodge No. 228 F. & A.M. Bumps was also active with the Uniontown YMCA Youth Basketball program for 50 years.

Surviving are his brother, Fred C. Bierbower of Uniontown, and two cousins, Mary Jean Boring of Uniontown, and Marge McInter of the State of Nebraska.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown St., Uniontown, where friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. William D. Rodahaver officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. The John Knox Bible Class will hold services this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
