Mark “Smittee” Smith, 44, of Belmar, N.J., died November 8, 2002 after a long illness. He was the husband of Dana Sparks Smith, formerly of Indian head and Connellsville, Pa.

In addition to his wife of 16 years, he is survived by five children; Amy, Taylor, Meme, Juan and Nicholas, all at home; a sister Brenda Clanton; and his mother, Claris Dorsey Smith.

He was employed by Home Depot and worked as a comedian in the Shore area. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Foster Parent Association.

Interment was at the H. Warren Smith Cemetery in Jacksonville Beach, Fla.

Jean M. Christie

Jean M. Christie, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, Pa., died Thursday, December 5, 2002 in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church and its Rosary Society.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph M. Christie; three daughters, Patricia A. Klejka and husband James, Cynthia J. Murdock and husband Joseph and Barbara A. Lindsay and husband Thomas, all of Mount Pleasant; four sisters Geraldine Zaronsky, Dolores Pfeifer and Marilyn Roberts, all of Mount Pleasant and Stephania Helinsky of Greensburg; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt, Pa. today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Panachida will be held at 10:45 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, with Divine Liturgy at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church.

Betty G. Taylor

Betty G. Taylor, 71, of Connellsville, Pa., passed away Thursday, December 5, 2002 in Highlands Hospital.

She was born in Mt. Braddock, Pa., and was Protestant by faith.

She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Taylor, who resided with her and James Bill Taylor and wife Jessie, all of Connellsville; a daughter Diane (Cricket) Brooks and companion, Bryan Jones, both of Uniontown; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the Vito C. Martucci Funeral Home, 123 S. First St., West Side, Connellsville, Pa., today until 1 p.m. the hour of service.

William A. Wilson

William A. Wilson, 82, of Southwest, died Thursday, December 5, 2002 at HIS of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg, Pa.

He was retired from Robertshaw Controls Co. and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Force. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.

Surviving are his children, Patricia Riter and husband Ronald of Southwest, Rose Mary Henninger and husband Robert of Export and William Wilson and wife Mary of Bullskin Township; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; one sister Lillian Greenawalt of Kreinbrook Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home in Norvelt, Pa. today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held at 8:50 a.m. Monday.

Joseph P. Smith

Joseph P. Smith, 82, of Normalville, Pa., died Thursday, December 5, 2002 in the Cherry Tree Nursing Center, Uniontown.

Prior to his retirement in 1985, he worked as a custodian for the Connellsville Area School District at the Springfield Township Elementary School in Normalville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Bessie Marie Smalley Smith; his children, Patrick Smith and his wife Sue of Normalville, Dixie Mineo of Florida, Geary Smith and his wife Sharon of Normalville, Lewis Smith and his Treanna of Connellsville and Frances Hensel and her husband the Rev. John Hensel of Florida; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711 Melcroft, Pa., until 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Richard A. Broush

Richard A. Broush, 61, of United, Pa., died Thursday at his residence.

He was a graduate of East Huntingdon High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and was employed by UPS in plant engineering at New Stanton.

He is survived by his wife Sally Garstecki Broush; a daughter Sheri Broush Campbell and husband Craig of Greensburg; two brothers Jack Broush and wife Phyllis of Raleigh, N.C. and William Broush Jr. and wife Sandy of Greensburg; five sisters, Dorothy Tullio and husband B.M. of Mount Pleasant, Mildred Brywa, Gladys Zeabley and husband Frank and Audrey Randolph, all of Scottdale and Virginia King and husband John of Mount Pleasant; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements will be announced when complete by the Eugene G. Saloom Funeral Home Inc., Main Street, Mount Pleasant, Pa.
