Two more armed robberies reported in Connellsville
CONNELLSVILLE – Armed robbers have again struck two city businesses, demanding cash from employees and then leaving the scene. According to city police, a white male wearing a dark-colored ski mask entered the Pizza Hut restaurant late Thursday and told a worker that he had a gun and demanded that he be given the contents of the cash register.
Police said there were no patrons at the Highland Avenue restaurant at the time of the robbery.
A similarly attired person entered the Sunoco A-Plus gas station at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday and took an undetermined amount of cash from the register, said police.
While the robber claimed to have a weapon, the attendant told police the masked man showed him a hammer.
This is the fourth alleged armed robbery within the city since Nov. 20.
Police said someone with a silver revolver approached a Domino’s Pizza Shop employee on Nov. 20 as he was leaving the North Pittsburgh Street business and demanded he turn over a bag containing approximately $300 in receipts he was carrying through the parking lot.
Police have not released a description of the gunman.
An Everson man has been charged in connection with the Nov. 22 armed robbery at a local gas station.
Joseph C. Stenger, 20, of 326 Painter St. is charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property stemming from the alleged robbery of $610 from the Graft Sunoco located on McCormick Avenue.
He remains incarcerated in Fayette County Prison pending a preliminary hearing.
