Trial opens
The drug and gun possession trial of James Davis, 54, of Uniontown began Monday before Fayette County Judge Ralph C. Warman. Uniontown police officer Phillip W. Jones charged Davis with possession of marijuana and illegally possessing a firearm after searching a city residence occupied by Sonda Christner on Feb. 9, 2001.
Jones was part of a team who went to Christner’s home. While there, Jones said he saw pipes used to smoke drugs and asked for permission to search. Christner granted permission and Jones found the gun along with 9.3 grams of marijuana.
Assistant District Attorney Mark D. Brooks is prosecuting Davis; Assistant Public Defender Mary Campbell Spegar is representing him.
The trial will pick up this morning.
