REDSTONE TWP. – The 2003 budget was adopted Wednesday by the Redstone Township Supervisors, with no increase in tax revenues. The millage rate will drop to 1.153 mills due to the changes in the Fayette County tax assessment process, but Supervisor Larry Williams said there will be no changes in the amount of money generated by the real estate tax. The township’s new property assessment stands at $136,552,187, according to Chairman Ralph Rice.

The township is anticipating revenue of $605,668.29 for 2003, with expenditures of $588,899 and a fund balance of $16,769.29.

Rice announced that he would step down as chairman at the end of the year. He will preside over one more meeting, a special meeting to award a garbage contract on Dec. 27.

Rice also announced that there will be free parking in the township from now until Jan. 2, 2003 to accommodate holiday shoppers. The free parking applies to all meters in Republic.

Noah’s Ark, which provides animal control services for the township, reported responding to 11 complaints in November. The service provided 11 hours of patrol time, picked up 21 dogs and five cats and responded to two cases involving people bitten by animals.
