Derek Sheldon Bailey
Derek Sheldon “Wop” Bailey, 18, of Scottdale R.D.1, Pa., an inspiring and talented musician and rapper who had composed numerous songs, presently a freshman in the Liberal Arts Program at Westmoreland County Community College in Youngwood, Pa., who graduated from Southmoreland High School Class of 2002 where he was past President of his class and Student Council and very active in numerous school organizations, died early Friday morning, December 13, 2002 in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, Pa., of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on old Route 119 in Hunker. He is survived by his parents, Dwayne S. “Dub” Bailey of Scottdale and Patricia A. Brant Bailey of West Newton, Pa., and her fiance, George Yackovich Jr.; brothers and sister: Clifton J. Bailey and wife, Jodi, of Scottdale, Suzanne Bailey of North Huntingdon, Pa., Chad A. Connors and wife, Cheryl, of Frederick, Maryland, and Joseph W. Bailey of Scottdale; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Helena (Costello) Brant of Berkley Springs, West Virginia; uncles and aunts: Philip and Pat Bailey of Bridge City, Texas, James and Joyce Bailey of Port Arthur, Texas, Galen Bailey of Port Arthur, Texas, Lynda Bailey of Arlington, Texas, Grace Bailey of Treasure Island, Florida, Allison Brant Kesler and husband, Geoff, of Arlington, Virginia, Leslie Brant Sullivan and husband, Charles, of Champagne, Illinois, and Ellen “Pooter” Brant Kita and husband, Dave, of Everson, Pa.
The Family will receive Friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home Inc., 417 West Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday, December 17, from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon.
